Sorry not a Bass rod question.

I just put a order in for three blanks to be used as LBG sticks, 6kg, 8kg and a 24kg. All are 7ft long with the 6 and 8 being graph (IM6) and the 24kg being E glass. I am thinking about extending the 6 and 8 and was wondering whats the best way. I can get my hands on a few different size alum tube and was looking at using this. The extension will be under the reel seat.

Now my question is does the rod blank go inside the alum tube or on the outside?

How long should they overlap?

Thanks guys

Nutter,
the problem you pose isn't difficult, just needs to be thought thru. like a chippy - measure twice, cut once.
the use of aluminium tube is fine however if you can get some graphite tube (old rod) the diameter of the butt and insert it into the butt end to a point into the blank level with the top of the foregrip, glue and trim to the length you require, thats you problem solved. a couple of points, the tube has to reach the top of the foregrip in my opinion as if you stop short you create a weeker area as the wall is now thicker and by placing leverege on this area through your hands on the thinner walled area it could cause a problem. the other way to go would be the application of uni butts to these blanks to get your desired length. hope this helps,
steve duff.
